Facebook Page issue

Dear parents

Please note that it has come to our attention that there is a Facebook and Instagram page that is called "SGHS/SBHS Compliments"which encourages anyone to anonymously post statements about girls or boys at the school. Unfortunately there are more rude, nasty and derogatory remarks that are being posted - no compliments. Upon investigation it appears that the page administrators are anonymous too and there are many of them, possibly predators who are luring girls and boys in to reveal names and grades even.

Please monitor your daughter's use of social media and , if she has posted on or followed this group (or similar groups), please ensure that she unfollows and deletes the group/s. If your daughter is one of those who have been insulted, we advise that you report the site to the police and also monitor her well-being and assist her to deal with these issues as far as possible.

As a school we are reporting the site to the police and to the Facebook and Instagram platforms but they are slow to delete pages from their sites. The tutors are also trying to support the learners, but we have limited resources to be able to deal with the emotional issues that might arise.
